This Autumn/Winter there has been a big check jacket trend going on inspired by the recent Calvin Klein Collection from the new Creative Director of the brand, Raf Simons. Since Raf has arrived at Calvin Klein after his reign at Dior he has made a big impact largely by renaming the brand to Calvin Klein 205W93NYC. Of course the fashion pack has applauded Raf’s collections for the brand so far no more so than the A/W 17/18 Collection which featured the now infamous Prince of Wales check jacket . The item that has received the most coverage is the PVC covered trench coat. Of course this may not be for everyone but this trend is easily accessible with lots of high street brands reinterpreting this trend.
When it came to interpreting this trend myself I opted for looking for something vintage rather than buying from the high street. Of course I did try on the Calvin Klein PVC trench on at Dover Street Market but it was just out of my price league unfortunately. As soon as I seen this checked blazer it instantly appealed to me. From the coat brand Crombie this blazer is made from wool and is in amazing vintage condition. Priced at £40 this blazer was much more value for money than any blazers that I had my eye on at Topman and the likes. I have had so much wear out of it as well as compliments galore.
When it comes to wearing smart pieces I always like to mix them with more casual items. Here I have styled the blazer with a hoody and logo tee. I have worn many variations of this outfit and have had so much wear out of the blazer so far.
