If you have been following me on my Instagram you will have noticed that I have had a slight obsession lately with Gucci. In particular shoes. My interest in Gucci sparked up again after the new Creative Director Allesandre Michelle took charge and took the brand in a new direction. How can anyone not have noticed the infamous furry lined Princetown loafer?
Having not bought anything from Gucci since the Tom Ford days I began testing the waters by going in to store and trying on the styles that I liked. I knew eventually I would buy a pair but which ones I was unsure of. One tip I would give when it comes to buying luxury items is take your time when making a decision to buy or not. Most luxury brands only offer exchanges and not returns so bare this in mind when it comes to buying luxury items. In saying this I was in the Bond Street store after the store was closed trying on different styles only to buy a pair on a whim from Mr Porter.
How could I have resisted the Oxblood Gran Luca fringed loafers from the AW 16/17 Collection? The reason why I bought them so instinctively was due to the lack of availability of the shoes. Mr Porter was the only site that seemed to stock this particular style in this color and there was limited sizes. I mean how could I not buy them? The plus side to buying online is that you can return the items if you receive them and change your mind about them. With this in mind I went ahead and bought them whilst in Vietnam of all places looking forward to receiving them upon my return.
Of course it was love at first sight and the shoes were definitely a keeper. What I liked most about the shoes were the uniqueness of them and how they were unlike any of the other shoes from the season yet had all of the signature feels of the classic Gucci style. I have since learned that this style was produced in limited quantities in this color from the AW 16/17 fashion show. The shoes are so easy to style and can be easily dressed up or down. Oh and don’t let me forget the exquisite packaging. It’s these little things that definitely make the difference when it comes to buying luxury items.
For the moment please enjoy the pictures of these marvelous shoes. I do however sadly no longer have these shoes in my collection but I will save that for another time.
